Timeless Fats Navarro combines tracks trumpeter Fats Navarro recorded for Savoy during the 1940s. Navarro is largely considered one of the lost geniuses of the bop movement and many of his most famous cuts are here, including "Fat Girl," "Ice Freezes Red," and more. While there are better Navarro compilations, at 18 tracks the Timeless collection is a worthy budget overview.

His fat sound combined aspects of Howard McGhee, Roy Eldridge, and Dizzy Gillespie, became the main inspiration for Clifford Brown, and through Brownie greatly affected the tones and styles of Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, and Woody Shaw.
