Customer Reviews

Decent, terribly mixed.

Whoever mastered this album should be fired. Typical MO sound, but, as others have said there is little variation to each track and it all pretty much sounds the same.

Hard to get past the terrible audio... You can hardly hear the drums which just adds to the continuous distortion.

Disappointed, but, may adjust my rating after a few weeks of listening.

Good, but very monotonous

I just listened to an exclusive online stream, and COPE has the quintessential Manchester Orchestra sound. The band made a point to say they wanted to make an album on which every track was "brutal and pounding", and that's exactly what the listeners get.

I've been an MO fan since the beginning, and while this album is good, every song sounds extremely similar. There is no variation or real creative difference between tracks, and that really stands out and ultimately the whole approach becomes a bit monotonous by the middle of the album. It's definitely a different approach to their last album, Simple Math, which incorporated strings and more slow/fast tempo variation in songs. COPE offers heavy distortion and crunch in every song which, again, is good, but a little boring after a while.

Top Notch

Awesome song! If you like any of their previous work, this song still has the distinctive Manchester Orchestra sound but you can hear that they've grown and developed. Really looking forward to the album, just preordered it!

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the indie rock outfit grew out of songs that Hull had begun writing while attending high school. Encouraged by positive response, he opted for home schooling during his senior year, which afforded him enough time to compose and record in the studio. Friends began...
