iTunes Review

Since their 2001 debut, the world-weary baritone of National frontman and songwriter Matt Berninger has developed into one of the most compelling voices in Brooklyn’s well-groomed indie scene, begging comparisons to darkly tempered rock outsiders like Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen. The follow-up to 2010’s celebrated High Violet is a set of beautifully produced contemplations on shadowy love, self-destruction and urban ennui. Chipper? Hardly. But songs like “Demons”, “Heavenfaced” and “I Need My Girl” are impossible to shake.

Customer Reviews

New favourite album!

I've had the pleasure of listening to the album (a couple times over) and it's nothing short of spectacular. Like many of The National's albums, Trouble Will Find Me gets better with every listen. Graceless and I Should Live In Salt are two standout songs. You won't regret purchasing this album.

Good one

It's a good album but I miss the raw energy we could sometimes hear on Boxer and High Violet. It's a bit linear but still enjoyable. I hope that for their next album they get a bit out of the path they're in.

Think You Can Wait?

Okay so i just streamed and already i need to stream again! So many great baritone poetic lyrics going on in just about every song, that make me want to hear them over and over again to relive those favorite moments in those tracks that I just heard. This Pre-Order is only a week away and cannot come soon enough. High Violet got me hooked and I can see I'm already going to be addicted to this one. Trouble Will Find Me has found me now... so relateable it makes you smile when you connect with the words and such. For people that get it it's hard to beat! Literally it's a beat driven orchestrated sensation that's sweeping The Pink Rabbits, I Should Live in Salt, Demons, Slipped, and Humiliation are best of all.

Although formed during the post-punk revival of the late '90s, the National took inspiration from a wider set of influences, including country-rock, Americana, indie rock, and Brit-pop. The lineup began taking shape in Ohio and officially cemented itself in New York, with baritone vocalist Matt Berninger joining forces with two sets of brothers -- Scott (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums), and Aaron (guitar) and Bryce Dessner (guitar). After establishing themselves as a live act, the bandmates made...
