Over the Rhine is one beautiful mess of roots, jazz, folk, a touch of rock and a bunch of gorgoues music to fill your ears. I never tire of them. This band, like other talented roots artists (Patty Griffin, The Weepies) can be trusted to always release timeless pieces.

Building on what makes them great

This album followed through on everything that makes Over the Rhine great. The realism and comfort that draws someone to this band comes through with a playful and whimsical feel. They have moved from “Drinking bloody Mary’s in the south” to “Taking their coffee with the blood of a turnip” pulling from deep roots while blossoming for more to see.

Over the Rhine had already developed a large and intensely loyal following in their native Cincinnati, Ohio before they independently released their first two albums, Till We Have Faces (1991) and Patience (1992).
