Album Review

From her productive Concord period, Mothers & Daughters is among Rosemary Clooney's strongest sellers. Though tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton is missing, the selections (some of which deal with children) are often overly sentimental, and the jazz content (despite some brief spots for the reeds of Gary Foster) is nearly nonexistent, Clooney is in reasonably good voice (she was 68 at the time) and it's good to have the classic "Sisters" (from Holiday Inn) on record.

Customer Reviews

Outstanding

It is a joy to hear the deep, quiet and fierce love parents have for their children expressed with such grace, heart and soul by the lovely Rosemary Clooney. This album would make a wonderful gift for parents of newborns; listening to it helps me rekindle the memories and warm feelings of quiet times reading or dozing in the rocking chair.

She wasn't an improviser or a technical virtuoso, and lacked the training to stand on an equal footing with the greatest true jazz singers....
