Epic in its own right

Super strong album with lots of retro and nostalgic feel to it, while still keeping the modern fx and production. A good combination of the previous albums, making this one of the strongest of the bunch. Although not as distorted and seedy as DIMD, and not as poppy and accessible as WELT, it's a bit closer to Sunnypsyop but still creates it's own sound, textures, and style.

It's a bit more sad and somber in it's emotions and atmosphere, Ogre seems a bit more outwardly focussed than the previous release. Lots of great hit tracks alongside the instrumental ambient interludes, definitely a must for OhGr/SkinnyPuppy fans and a strong recommendation to any fans of darker electronic music in general.

Nivek Ogre was the snarling voice behind Canada's fierce industrialists Skinny Puppy, and after their demise in 1995, he was already tinkering around with various music projects. Together with producer Mark Walk (Pigface, Ruby), he designed the unit called OhGr. The new moniker, which had been in the works just prior to Skinny Puppy's end, did not see the light of day until the late '90s due to contractual drama with Rick Rubin's American Recordings.
