iTunes Review

There’s no overstating just how much Peter, Paul & Mary contributed to the commercial clout of folk music in the 1960s, whether smoothing out the crags in several Bob Dylan songs, making squirrelly pop tunes out of Pete Seeger (“If I Had a Hammer”) and Woody Guthrie (“This Land Is Your Land”) compositions, or playfully bridging the psychedelic and kid-friendly (“Puff the Magic Dragon”). But despite a friendly, non-confrontational image, the trio also delivered stunning protest songs in “Cruel War” and “The Great Mandella (The Wheel of Life).”

What can I say? I'm in my 50's and this is memory lane. One day I hope my adult kids rediscover their fabulous music. It says more than all the history books can about life back then. And much which is applicable now. A classic collection of timeless words and music! AAAaaahhhhh....

Fantastic music to be remembered!

Essential tunery for anyone having cut their teeth in the 60's, this album compilation does a fine job of gathering the songs of PPM whose messages continue to ring so clearly today. The most popular folk group of the 1960s, Peter, Paul and Mary in later decades have also proved themselves to be among the most durable music acts in history. Their longevity dwarfs that of the Weavers, while the fact that the trio continues to be associated with a major record label (Warner Bros.) after decades in the business sets them apart from rivals like the Kingston Trio and the Brothers Four. Then again, perhaps it isn't so surprising -- Peter, Paul and Mary's roots run deeper than almost...
