Editors’ Notes

Compared to his progressive-house megahit “Levels,” Avicii’s True is a musically omnivorous curveball. Stompers like the earnest, acoustic guitar-driven “Wake Me Up" mix Appalachian influences with Aloe Blacc's soulful pipes for a surprisingly intuitive-sounding pop song; "Hey Brother" takes it even further into countryfied territory. Other standouts include "You Make Me," on which a plunking piano and filtered vocal provide theatrical flourish, and "Dear Boy," which flits between enchanted balladry and big, high-energy builds.

Amazing new sound

Check out "Hey Brother", awesome track

Avicii paves the way for country/funk-inspired house. He takes up Daft's Punk vision of a more soulful dance music, and delivers it in a glossed up, housified way. Not exactly deep stuff, but above average House music. Good job Avicii

Absolutely fantastic album

Almost every track on this album is flawless. Favourites thus far are Wake Me Up, Hey Brother, Addicted To You, Dear Boy, Liar Liar, and Heart Upon My Sleeve.

Avicii's new sound is truly different than what other EDM producers are doing at the moment, and not only is it unique but also superbly good.
