The Ditty Bops

I was browsing through Acoustic Guitar magazine at the Library the other day and read a brief article about a couple of young women who had formed a band they called 'The Ditty Bops'. The article and the photo piqued my interest so I made a mental note to check them out on the iTunes Music Store. To my delight I found their debut album 'The Ditty Bops', so I clicked on a couple of tracks to listen and liked what I heard so much that my next click was on 'Buy Album'. This album, and the Ditty Bops themselves have quickly become favourites. Very highly recommended listening.

Refreshing, uplifting and fun to listen to

It's funny how you can discover new favourites. I had never heard of the Ditty Bops but while browsing for some music videos of one of my favourite TV shows - Wonderfalls - I found a video on You Tube of the song WakeUp. The song was beautifully matched with scenes from the show and I just could not get the song out of my head. I thought it may have been from a small indie group so imagine my suprise when I found the group and the song on iTunes. The entire album is refreshing, uplifting and fun to listen to. The group crosses genres from pop, to folk, to country and their harmonies and toe tapping melodies have made this group a favourite. HIghly recommended if you are feeling the mid winter blahs!

Though Barrett and DeWald met in New York City in the late '90s, they didn't begin playing music until they moved back to California. Barrett spent her childhood in Topanga and learned to play fretted dulcimer when...
