Customer Reviews

Insanely great!

I was very satisfied after listening to this album a few times especially thinking it couldn't be as good as his previous release "The Man That Would Not Die"
Like most good albums it needs time to grow on you rather than take an immediate effect. Bayleys voice remains just as powerful as ever but his vocals have been put slightly lower in the mix this time round with the guitars pushed out front.
The first track is a strong opener Watching the Night Sky, with great overdubbed vocals, a catchy chorus and more oh-oh-ohhhhhs that Blaze is known for,
The second song Madness and Sorrow opens with one of my favouraite riffs, It only features buried in the mix later on in the song so i often skip back to the intro repeatedly when listening. The song itself is pretty catchy with powerful vocals and good drumming.
1633 is probably my least favouraite song on the album, The riffs are good but the vocal melodies don't make good use of blazes voice in my opinion, The lyrics do make up for it though,
God of Speed is another strong track with strong riffs and agressive vocals, one of my favouraite songs on the album.
City of bones is an average to good track with an unusual structure and great theme, Takes time to grow on you but has interesting guitar melodies.
Faceless is another strong track in my opinion with one of the best choruses on the album also has strong lyrics.
Time to dare is one of the more less memorable songs on the album but has a great intro and strong vocals.
Surrounded by Sadness despite is title is one of the strongest songs on the album, It's mostly an acoustic ballad. I really enjoy hearing blazes vocals unplugged and it's great to hear something different from the band, The chorus is also one of my favouraites,
The trace of things that have no words continues on from this song, Its one of the heaviest songs on the album and has very catchy vocal melodies,
Lettting go of the world is also one of my favouraite songs on the album, The best i've ever heard Blazes vocals and has some amazing guitar work in the latter half of the song,
Comforatable in Darkness is the albums closer, Not one of my favouraites but is a good way to end the album and has a great opening riff that carries through the song.
Overall I'd give the album a 90/100 and it is a must for any melodic metal fans or fans of Blazes work in general.
