iTunes Review

For Your Entertainment captures Lambert's flair for the bombastic, a trait that made him a fan favorite. Lambert’s debut unspools like a big-budget blockbuster with a synth-heavy rock/pop soundtrack. Buffered with superstar cameos from P!nk, Lady GaGa, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Matthew Bellamy of Muse, and Justin Hawkins of the Darkness, Lambert emerges from the shadows and into the blinding center-stage lights.

"Glambert's" Debut Takes Risks - And Pays Off!

What Adam Lambert has done here is mix things up with his debut album. The best example I could give of this record is that it is Queen meets producers Advant & Bloodshy - rock meets dance. It was a bold and risky move to make a first release as unconventional as this one is, but it completely pays off.

Starting out with the ultra-catchy "Music Again," the tone of the album is set. If you don't like this song, you probably won't be a fan of the rest of the music Lambert offers here. But if you do like it, you're in for a real treat! Tracks worth mentioning including the first single and title track, "For Your Entertainment," "Whataya Want From Me," "Strut," and "If I Had You"; the last of which ventures the furthest into pure dance music that this album goes.

And of course, Lambert boldy brings his sexuality into play with the Lady Gaga-penned "Fever." The song pays homage to his recent outing over the summer in Rolling Stone magazine, and yet remains the only song to explicity bring up his sexuality. The topic is not overdone, yet still addressed which should keep any fans hoping for Lambert to take a liberal political stance for the LGBT community at least somewhat at bay.

Ultimately, the "glam rock" as Lambert has labelled this album, should be enough to satisfy his fans for the time being. This is a strong debut, full of infectious hooks, rock guitars, dance beats, and Lambert's amazing vocal abilities that soar to unimaginable heights throughout many of the songs.

The album does, however, have some low points. The ballads are hit and miss on this record, with "A Loaded Smile" really failing to showcase Lambert in any good light. And while he gives a strong vocal performance in "Soaked," the melody is a little off-putting and doesn't fit in much with the rest of the dance/rock-infused material that fills up the majority of the album. Better suited are the final two tracks (before the "bonus tracks" come into play), "Aftermath," and the truly beautiful "Broken Open."

The bottom line is if you were a fan of Lambert on American Idol, you will not be disappointed with this release. If you enjoy dance music, and that rock-style that made Queen and David Bowie popular in the 80s, than this too is a perfect match for you. It is by no means perfect, but a truly remarkable, daring start to what will hopefully be a long career for Adam Lambert. A great album.

Who is that guy and why is he so awesome?!

I've an Adam Lambert fan since the first time I saw him at the auditions. It never stopped all throughout the contest, and even after it ended, I bought every single that came out. And now, finally, Glambert attacks the music industry with the biggest weapon he has - his voice.

Going where no Idol contestant has gone before, Adam blasts with an album that is not monitored by any music producer, but Adam himself. It's his style - it's his vision - it's his music. I couldn't be more satisfied. From the electric sound of For Your Entertainment, to the calmer Soaked, to the epic Time For Miracles, Adam leaves you wanting more - and hopefully, more we will get.

Before becoming a front-runner in the eighth season of American Idol, Adam Lambert made his name in the theater world, where he performed alongside Val Kilmer in the debut production of Ten Commandments: The Musical and landed an understudy role in a touring production of Wicked. The California native then parlayed his theater background into a multi-month run on American Idol in 2009. Lambert's flair for neo-goth clothing and eclectic arrangements made him a critical favorite, as did his dramatic...
