Once again, brilliant

I have to admit before I comment on the album that I have loved Ms McKennitt's music, voice and knowledge since I first discovered her 20 some odd years ago, so I tend to be a bit biased. However, The Wind That Shakes The Barely brings me back in time to her first recordings Elemental and To Drive the Cold Winter Away with it's warmth and ever present harp. I feel as though Ms McKennitt has come full circle with this album, but with great maturity as an artist and musician. If you are new to her music, I couldn't recommend this album more, and if you are an avid die hard like myself, I only hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Long live the harp...

At long last, a return to what originally made me fall in love with Loreena McKennitt: her incomparable mastery of the harp. At first listen, it seems as if the middle eastern influences of her past albums have been toned down somewhat in order to give more room to the heavenly stylings of her harp. Quite refreshing to this diehard fan's ears indeed! In my humble opinion, Loreena McKenitt is one of the few true creative forces of our time, one who instinctively knows how to mary word and sound together and give birth to some of the most multi-leveled musical masterpieces you will ever listen to. Pure delight for your ears and warm apple cider for your soul. The timing of this album is perfect too, you will want to buy multiple copies of this CD for your friends and family: Loreena's music is always the perfect gift!

Amazing, as usual!

I have no idea what these people that complain are talking about. There are 10 beautiful pieces of art in this album, the digital booklet is yours if you buy the entire album (as when we buy the CD in a physical store).

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Loreena McKennitt's literate and sometimes experimental focus on Celtic-tinged traditional and original material, coupled with her haunting harp playing, has made her Canada's national chanteuse and new age troubadour since she broke through to prominence in the mid-'80s. The daughter of a nurse mother and a livestock-trading father, McKennitt studied classical piano and voice and learned to dance in the highland style as a youngster. Her love of traditional music was strengthened in the folk clubs...
