Ron Nigrini

This album brings back very pleasant memories of local bars in the North Toronto area......working as a lifeguard at the Leaside pool and stopping by to hear incredible music after work....:-)

One of the Rich (musical) Things around Toronto

Ron Nigrini was playing with a frfiend's band back in the early 70s. Sara DelRay and the Revival. Sara had a knack for surrounding herself with musicians who were more than talented, they were all gifted vocalists. The harmonies in that band were incredible and they chose material, if not their own, which showed off the possibilities of 5 part harmony. (Before The Eagles!) Ron Nigrini's voice was one of those voices that added so much. when he branched out onto his own in the mid-70s, we heard his first eponymous first release and loved it. so when Rich Things came out shortly after, we were eager to hear such new material as he'sd created. This album didn't disappoint. his version of I'm Easy hit the airwaves and was an instant success! I actually prefer it to the film version in 'Nashville' by Keith Carradine. But there's more to this album than just a one-hit wonder. The title song 'Rich Things' is so beautifully crafted, It's hard not to imagine it didn't get air play. All the material in here are worth a listen. It' will give you some insight into the thought-provoking lyrics which punctuate Ron's more recent writing and his 'Live' performances. He's a renaissance man, living in Northern Ontario and working on their property, whiile finding tme to continue writing and performing as occasions rise, in the 'big city'. His enduring love and support of longtime fans speaks to the endurance of his music. I wish he was better known in the braoder musical community. His videos on youTube, of his apppearances at Hugh's Room in Toronto, give more insight to the longevity of the talented man's career.
