Bug-ridden; wait for maintenance release
3.9 client update that’s been pushed out in conjunction with this software will ruin your day. While installation / deployment issues are manageable; loss of ability to reliably use meta keys (Option/Control/Shift) is extremely unpleasant. There is no way to downgrade the client; you will be stuck.
The steady decline in quality of Apple’s software over the past several years is troublesome; this release continues the trend. :-(
DO NOT DO IT IF YOU HAVE CLIENTS OLDER THEN 10.10
You will lose the ability to send Unix commands, install packages, etc to all computers you manage that have not yet upgraded to ARD client 3.9 which only works on 10.10+
Aviod this verison
This upgrade has been a disaster. The previous version was working perfectly and I could manage 30 clients without issues. Since the update ARD clients randomly stop working, some of the clients I still can’t authenticate to run unix commands on and ARD keeps reporting “A critical error has occurred” and prompts to be relaunched.
Avoid this update by disabling auto updates on the clients to keep them on the previous version (3.8.5) to avoid being force to install this update ont he admin computer.
