What's New

Version 6.19.0

While adding avocado might be extra, adding more details to your tasks isn’t. Now when you tap “Add task…” from the task list, you can add a description, assignee, attachments, and more when creating tasks. You can also attach multiple images to new tasks from the iOS Share extension. Now that's a stacked task sandwich.

Wow. Incredible app

Rockies Rentals

We moved our entire team from a previous productivity app that was going out of business. Had I know how much better Asana would be, I would have made the change sooner.

Our staff is now super excited about checking things off their to do list. It’s like a game to them. And we can communicate about tasks in one place. No more endless emails. No more text conversations where the information gets lost, and only one person received the communication. I can see exactly when the task was created.

We truly love this app. Thank you Asana.

Asana is great but the app

Asana is not Mobile-First

Omar Khafagy

Asana is a product that, despite its years, still feels very much like a beta. When the product first came out I tried it. I passed on it for a combo of OmniFocus and Trello.

Recent changes in my circumstances forced me to look at another solution and so I returned to Asana to see what changed. A lot! And there are some good things.

But I can't praise those things very much when my experience with the software is so platform dependant.

Search on the web is fairly strong and allows me to save searches. Search on the iPhone is limited - no ability to save searches.

Moving tasks between projects or turning them into sub tasks for another task, even if it's in another project or team, is easy on the web.

It's not even an option on your phone.

Making matters more frustrating is that certain features require you to pay a huge fee that works out to roughly $50/month whether you have 1 or 5 users. That's the cost of the entire Adobe suite for one person. I'm not opposed to paying money for the software, but I don't understand why I can't just pay for myself? I'd happily pay $20/month for these features, which is $10 more than the per-person fee they charge.

It's hard to justify $50/month when I can't even get the same experience on my phone and laptop. Worse, I can't even log into a browser-version of Asana from my phone. I'm stuck with the app's feature set because the website hides the Log In button when the site is loaded on a mobile device.

Verdict: if you're reliant on your mobile device, and need a fully featured mobile app, avoid Asana.

The app works best as an extension to their web platform.
