Bit buggy

It's ambitious but to the point it sacrifices quality. Latency, crashes, can get it working smoother with workarounds etc. With a little correction to these issues it would be a much higher rating because there are great qualities.

First truly professional DAW for iPad.

WaveMachineLabs' Auria was worth the long wait. I've tried nearly every other DAW offering for the iPad and nothing else comes remotely close to it in terms of usability, functionality and interface. I have to hand it to the developers, features list aside, they really put some time and thought into HOW to implement multitouch audio editing--this is in my experience where prior attempts to make featured DAWs for iPad have fallen miserably short.

In short, the whole package and workflow has been properly thought through--right down to file management that while not as featured as a Mac or PC, puts many other audio apps to shame. To be sure, at the time of this review, this is a new DAW and it ain't perfect--zooming can be slow and clunky, perhaps a limitation of the hardware rather than the daw--and the touch interface does come with a bit of a learning curve (I've adjusted over a few hours to all but editing envelopes, the latter is a bit tricky). Also, there's still random bugs and intermittent crashes at this point. But the developers so far have been great in responding to requests and fine tuning the package. In short, if you're looking to throw out your laptop and produce on your iPad, this won't replace the bigger DAWs but really, that's not what it is for. When you're on the go, Auria is amazing. You'd be surprised just how much you can actually get done on this interface. It continues to impress me. To the developers, well done.

Old reviews

This review of mine is 2 years old so read more recent ones. I will leave it because its still relevant.

All the reviews I see are 5 years old. Auria was great then, but is much better now. Any features I wished for like MIDI, were implemented since then. What’s the point of posting 5 year old reviews of an app that gets regular updates. Auria is a fantastic professional DAW. The fact that there are fabfilter plugins available in the store says a lot considering the high quality of those plugins. Come on Apple, manage the reviews. It’s important to developers for the reviews to reflect current stuff. For example a review can complain about a missing feature that was implemented years ago.
