Calgary's communities, parks and natural areas are connected by an extensive network of pedestrian and cycling paths that are available for everyone to use whether you are walking, running, rollerblading or cycling. The Pathways and Bikeways mobile App is designed to provide you with a convenient way to navigate the pathway and on-street bikeway system. Whether for commuting or leisure, Calgary’s pathways and bikeways app will help you plan your next trip on our pathways and bikeways.
This app contains information on regional and local pathways; bikeways including cycle tracks, bike lanes, and shared lanes; and major routes including the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway, the Trans Canada Trail, Fish Creek Park, and the Western Irrigation District Canals. You will also find: Park ‘n’ Bike locations, Calgary Parking Authority monthly downtown bike parking, and aquatic and leisure centers. The app now includes real-time Pathway Closures and Detours, directly within the map.

Pretty dated app, the map is awful
Basic GIS zoomable map
Initially I thought this was exactly what I needed, but as I used it I found I wanted more. Out on my bike I kept flipping between Maps and this app because Maps doesn’t have the bike paths marked and this app doesn’t have your gps position. It’s supposed to mark your position when you tap the nav icon but it doesn’t work (works on the website page - strangely enough). Then I wanted to build a route and record a trip. Heck, I’d settle for proper detour routes when some links are flooded out or under construction - but alas, it’s basically just a map.
You can access this same info directly on the website. The purpose of an app would be to make it more unique than the website and way more user friendly. Search by city quadrant, ability to track distance (similar to running apps), remove some layers without changing the map completely. Keep the road identifiers while on satellite mode, for example.
This app needs a major overhaul and update to bring it into 2018.
