DVDpedia is a movie cataloging application that retrieves all information about your movies from the Internet via keyword or UPC scan, so you have time for more important things like watching movies.
Accessing several international movie sites, including Doghouse, the program's own media server, DVDpedia lets you retrieve information for DVD, Blu-Ray and VHS. To search, enter keyword combinations - movie title, director, actor, studio, etc. - or scan the UPC and let DVDpedia do the rest.
Create smart collections and start a wish list for those movies you don't own yet and a borrowed collection for those you want back. View your entries as a standard list, browse only the covers or use the info view for a personalized look of DVDpedia. Share your collection with friends using the customizable HTML export templates and learn more about your own collection with the Statistics feature. DVDpedia comes with full Spotlight integration.

Awesome collection software!
This is an awesome piece of software. It is easy to install, easy to use, very user-friendly, very intutitive. There is documentation and a forum with useful additional tips if you want to look for more. It seems well written. I have downloaded some customizations available on their web, and have downloaded the upgrade subsequently, nothing was lost and there was no issue at all (one should expect things to run smoothly, but in my long experience with many softwares it has rarely been the case). I have entered over 800 items without problem. It populates information automatically. There are nice features and I keep finding little gems, such as one can drag and drop cover art or links, one can link an item to another item in the library (for example if you want to link items from series with same theme). You can add custom fields extremely easily, and plenty are provided. Taking a picture with iSight for your cover art is only a couple of clicks (no download needed). There is also a nice integration with Front Row available from another user. You can manage your borrowed items (there is even a pic of the person who borrowed them from you).
And definitely easy to install and use. I lost all my KAVA Movies Info but fortunately I had saved a list of the movies (just the titles, nothing else). I was able to import that list into DVDpedia. Unfortunately, there is no way to update info for several movies at once, so I have to go one by one and update with the info from IMDb (my site option, there are several other sites offered for updating). Unfortunately, not all the fields update for a movie, particularly the "rating" as shown in IMDb (I can SEE the rating on the webpage, for some reason DVDpedia just doesn't update it). Overall, not a bad application, simple to use, with several fun options, but also with several limitations. I hope future upgrades will make it better
I have tried most of the cataloguing software for Movies and TV Series and this, in my humble opinion, is the best.
