Slow Down, Slim Down. Eat Slowly for the iPhone was created for those of use that eat too quickly. Scientific studies state it can take 20 minutes for our brains to acknowledge the food we eat to give us that full feeling. Eating too quickly can result in overeating. Eat Slowly has been created as a training tool to help you slow down, enjoy the taste of your food, and support a healthy lifestyle.

As children we had satiety cues that told us when to stop eating. With age and the stress of daily life many of us have overridden those satiety cues. We consume hundreds of calories in a matter of minutes and still feel hungry. Eat Slowly aims to help us slow down, enjoy the food we eat, and feel fuller longer.

What's New

Version 1.6

The second version of Eat Slowly (Version 1.5) was released over two years ago. To be honest, I didn’t believe anyone was using it anymore. However, this year two separate iTunes reviews caught my attention and inspired me to find the source code and make some changes. Thank you to those two reviewers. This new version of Eat Slowly (Version 1.6) resolves some embarrassing defects. These defects were a result of Apple’s privacy changes in iOS8 where an app like Eat Slowly now needs to ask for permission to send notifications or use the camera. Additionally, Eat Slowly (Version 1.6) now allows results to be exported (i.e. shared) from Meal History. This was a complete oversight on my part. It should have been part of the first version of Eat Slowly. You should notice that the user interface has been updated to adapt to different sized screens. If there is interest in the community of users I'll release this app as an iPad app next. There are some other minor graphical changes but that’s about it. I wanted to get this a new version of Eat Slowly out to those of you using it as quick as possible.

Great app for slow mindful eating!


This app is packed with features for helping you eat slowly. I use it everyday! Also the app developer is very friendly and open to feedback. This is a great app and it's going to get even better! A must download!!

Good but needs some improvements


It is a simple app which does the job that's intended. Adding alarms at the end of the target time would be great. Also, tips on how to eat slowly will be very helpful.
