Worse Taxis Belong To Vancouver, This App Doesn't Make Them Better, But Worse
The app itself makes it completely easy for cabdrivers to reject you if you're not going to a popular or far away area where they can pick up people on the way back. They are absolutely ruthless. Even if you have to go to the hospital, they won't pick you up. Every single time I book a cab, I get a text message from some company saying that they're coming my way and then they cancel on me.
The worst of them all is yellow cabs. The drivers are always so rude and mean for no reason. They act like they're doing you a favor. As if you're not gonna pay them at the end. It's terrible. I hope that Uber comes and puts all of these people out of a job they clearly are terrible at.
One night I was trying to come home and I was so far from home that it would've cost around $30 to get back home. I booked a cab and I waited for 45 minutes. I got a notification that they have received my order but nothing after that. After 45 minutes, I got a text message thanking me for my cancellation when I did not cancel.
If you're in Vancouver, unless you know how to whistle for a cab or steal one from other people like a vulture, you're not going to get a cab. And when you do get a cab, there's a chance that they're going to just drop you off far from where you need to go for their own convenience. Or they're going to make you feel so awkward during the entire ride as if you have insulted their entire family or something.
All of this rant aside, one of the terrible things about the app is that you have to put your final destination. And it makes it so that cab drivers can pick and choose who to pick up. So even if you're desperate and you want to go somewhere and pay maybe $15-$20 rather than $30-$50, they won't pick you up.
I understand what this app is trying to do but it Will never be Uber. It's so glitchy and the fact that it works with the worst Vancouver taxi companies doesn't make it any better. It hasn't help me in any of my desperate times where I need a cab. Never. No matter where I am and no matter how long or short my destination is, I have always had companies canceling on me automatically. 90% of the time. There should be some kind of a ban or something so that when a cabdriver agrees to pick you up, they can't just cancel when they're on their way. There is no reliability.
We NEED Uber.
Charged even though their cab never came
I got charged $5 fora cab that never showed up. I also called black top cabs (who was listed as having accepted my order) to find out what was going on and they said they could see the order but "eCab was weird" and it would be another 25 mins to get a cab. I told them to cancel and they said they can't cuz they don't know how eCab bookings work. I tried to cancel in the app but it wouldn't let me. It didn't even put up an error, it just didn't cancel. I even sent a message to ECab via the app...or tried to but kept getting an error message saying the system wasn't available (which isn't my connection as all my other apps, including this App Store app, are working fine). In the end I hailed a different cab as I had now waited almost 40 minutes past the service booking time. 15 minutes after catching a cab the old fashioned way, I get a call from a cab saying they're now waiting for me. Huh?!? I explained what happened and the cabbie understood. But I guess when he canceled the fare, it reports to eCab as my not being there? So I got charged a "service fee" for "no show". With all of this insanity, I got charged $5 for a service fee?!? Deplorable. I have asked my credit card company to reverse the charges as this is easily the most shady thing an app has done for me. If I could give negative stars I would.
Be weary with giving your credit card
Customer service is completely unresponsive leaving you with no recourse for charges from any driver or the app itself.
App is also laggy. Taxis come and go (charging you $5) before arrival notifications appear on you phone.
