Download the app for a 30-day free trial. ForeFlight is the integrated flight app with all the essentials for VFR & IFR route planning, flight plan filing, and flying in Europe.

ForeFlight is the most widely used application by individual pilots and professional flight crews to access weather and airport information, plan flights with optimized routing, file flight plans via EUROCONTROL, access and manage electronic charts and maps, reference flight manuals and documents, avoid terrain and obstacles with powerful hazard awareness tools, access in-flight traffic (and weather where supported), and aid enroute navigation.

ForeFlight requires a subscription. Visit our website for more information on the available plan levels.

Please note: Location is used to enable a moving map and to record track logs, push notifications are used for important bulletins and flight alerts, and contacts are used to add people to flights.

ForeFlight’s state-of-the-art map engine gives the app its signature speed and fluidity when panning and zooming. Data-driven Aeronautical map uses Jeppesen’s global VFR and IFR navigation data to depict waypoints, airports, airspace, airways, arrival/departure procedures, circuits, holds, no overfly areas, and more to support VFR and IFR flying in Europe.

Europe geo-region includes AIP enroute, procedure, and aerodrome charts and documents provided via EUROCONTROL. Optional add-ons include Jeppesen VFR Procedures, Jeppesen IFR Airway Manual coverages, and the German DFS VFR AIP and Charts. More countries and coverages to come.

Plan routes using the interactive Maps tab or the form-based Flights tab. Graphical Route Advisor produces EUROCONTROL validated routes within a matter of seconds. Simply tap the desired route to add it to your plan.

File your flight plan from the mobile app or on the web and receive Calculated Take-Off Time (CTOT) notifications (if applicable to your flight). Our global, redundant AFTN connection provides fast, direct, and unlimited access to filing flight plans with no additional cost or account configuration required. ForeFlight currently supports filing within and between any EUROCONTROL member states and Greenland. Generate a graphical preflight briefing and print a professional-grade Navlog for inflight reference.

Overlay a wide selection of interactive weather layers on the Maps view, along with your route line, and quickly see if conditions will affect your flight. View animated radar, global satellite and winds aloft, icing, turbulence, isobars, METAR-based layers, and more. Color-coded METARs/TAFs with decoded text help you quickly interpret conditions.

See the real time display of your GPS location on the chart. For ultimate situational awareness, overlay them onto the Maps view, along with weather and hazards in one integrated view.

Top-down-view Hazard Advisor map layer, Profile View, automatic Hazard Alerts, and 3D Synthetic Vision seamlessly integrate into the map view for a clear picture of terrain and obstacle hazards anywhere in the world. Features Jeppesen’s high-resolution terrain and obstacle data. Pair with an AHRS source for a backup attitude display on Synthetic Vision.

Additional Charts for France & Switzerland
•All European subscribers can now download AIPs for Switzerland and France, which include enroute charts, instrument approach charts, VFR approach charts (France only), airport diagrams, and documents, in addition to the Jeppesen VFR and IFR data already available.

•Enhance your VFR flying with a range of optional add-ons for both countries, available on ForeFlight’s website:
◦IGN’s VFR ICAO chart (France)
◦Skyguide’s VFR Guide (Switzerland)
◦SwissTopo’s VFR ICAO chart (Switzerland)
◦DFS VFR charts (North-East France & Switzerland)
◦Cartabossy’s VFR weekday and weekend charts (France & Switzerland).
◦Jeppesen VFR procedure charts (formerly known as Bottlang) are also available for both countries.
•ForeFlight already provides advanced flight planning capabilities for France and Switzerland, including fast autorouting and EUROCONTROL route validation, IFR and VFR flight plan filing, and helpful flight plan notifications like EUROCONTROL slot allocation messages, flight suspension and de-suspension notices, and calculated takeoff time (CTOT) messages caused by flight plan delays.

VFR Autorouting in Europe
•Route Advisor now generates VFR route suggestions for European subscribers, simplifying VFR flight planning.

•The VFR generated routes comply with standard AIP guidelines for VFR flights, such as keeping leg times below 30 minutes each, avoiding class A airspace, and placing waypoints on or near FIR boundaries to simplify border crossings.
•ForeFlight supports planning and filing VFR flight plans in all EUROCONTROL-administered countries.

Improved Navlog & Briefing Views
•The app navigation tabs along the bottom of the screen are now available while viewing the Navlog and Briefing, allowing for faster inflight access.

iPhone XS Max Support
•ForeFlight now supports the iPhone XS Max at its native resolution.

Map & Navigation Enhancements
•Tap on SID/STAR procedure bubbles in the Route Editor to find the new “Show Plate” action, which will open the plate in the Plates view or overlay it on the map if it supports geo-referencing and you have a Pro Plus subscription or higher.
•You can now display multiple user content files on the map at once by selecting them from the Layer Selector, including .mbtiles user charts and .kml user map layers. Visit for more information on how to create and use these files.

Recent Aircraft List
•ForeFlight now puts your five most recently-used aircraft profiles at the top of the aircraft list, making it easier to access and edit the aircraft you fly most often.
•The “Most Recent” section appears in all places where you can access your aircraft, including More > Aircraft and the aircraft selectors on Maps and Flights.

Integrated Maps in Track Log View
•View your recorded flight track on an interactive map inside the app. The Map shows the track on top of ForeFlight’s Aeronautical Map layer, including embedded airport diagrams so you can examine your taxi movements.

Low Battery Alert for Connected Portable Devices
•ForeFlight will alert you with a visual and audio warning when a portable device’s battery level reaches 20%, giving you ample time to supply power before it runs out.
•The alert is currently provided for Sentry, Stratus, all supported Garmin portables, and SiriusXM’s SXAR1.

New Current Location Markers
•Customize your inflight experience with new icons for dozens of military airplane and helicopter types: B-1, B-2, T-6, C-130, A-10, F-15, U-2, AH-64, H-65, and many more.
•Find the new icons in More > Settings > Current Location Marker.

Canadian flying with ForeFlight

I fly in Alberta and BC, with the odd cross border flight to USA. Love the new airspace shown on profile view, so I know the height of class C above me, and can plan to go through/ around / under. Great for planning through mountains. I like I can enter just departure and final Destination, then drag line around mountains, or drag to airports or highways and I get a detailed course to follow. Can turn on and off the radar weather or satellite overlay. At the. End of the flight I just enter aircraft ident and passengers and the logbook is done. (I still keep a duplicate paper logbook just because.)

I fly a few aircraft, and in seconds I can tell the time, fuel burn, etc in either and decide which will match the mission best. Weight and balance is straight forward, except for fuel burn which needs to be manually entered, not automatically from the entered flight plan as I would expect.

Overall a great flight planning and in-flight tool. I connect to my cell phone to get the weather and real-time satellite overlay when needed. I use a iPad Pro which has a built in GPS. Sometimes I also take along a Stratus and then also have the attitude, and some commercial ADSB traffic.

Better than high expectations

Got this for the intention of commercial heli use with an iPad Pro instead of buying a new Garmin high end remove-able gps. Still very new to me and I am learning more all the time but tried it on a few flights and was quite impressed. Some big positives so far:
-Having all Canadian Vnc maps, easy to get to information on airports, and all of my company documents or personal documents saved on here for in flight reference is amazing.
-found out how to add layers or mass import gps locations from google maps or earth that we already had created was way too easy and saved me so much time for flight planning.
Overall happy for the price so far, excited for continuing this trial

Supportive of Student Pilots

As a student pilot cash is tight, and with a check-ride planned across the boarder, ForeFlight graciously gave me a temporary one week Canadian/US activation. Thanks a ForeFlight.
