Get Plain Text is a practical utility program to process text within Mac OS: It converts copied text into plain text.
It instantly removes everything unneeded: colours, typeface size, style (for example, boldface/italics), hyper-links, images, etc. In other words, everything that isn’t plain text! Now you can put plain text in your letters and documents using the copy/paste functions, without having to clean it up manually.
Get Plain Text will convert any bit of text into plain text, no matter where you copied it from (a website, PDF document or elsewhere). You can activate the feature manually, or check “Automatically remove formatting” to make the app take care of it every time you copy something.

It works well….
“Get Plain Text” is a simple app that does the one thing it advertises, and does it well. I use it daily for moving text between Word and Adobe apps.
Update to my Review….
Still a good app for what it does - but prepared to be nagged for more money EVEN AFTER YOU PUCHASE. I get some dumb pop-up asking me to Tip the developer every few days. Very annoying.
Maybe the best tweak ever for me
What can I say … it just works. I cut and paste from many sources multiple times per day, and having formatting copy into my (previously just fine, thank you) document is a huge annoyance. It’s even a bigger annoyance to discover that foreign formatting is now the default for further text entry. Fixing it all requires about two minutes of my time, per instance, and it gets old, fast.
Enter *Get Plain Text*
Seamless, you almost forget it’s there until you remember the hassle it just saved you when you paste the text into a document. Every Mac should come with this feature. No System “funny-ness” as a result of installing and activating it.
I can’t reccommend it enough. Just get it. Full Stop.
