Waste of time and money!

140 Languages is your selling point, but it's totally pointless. What's the point in having over 140+ languages of each of them cost an arm and leg?
Even worse, you're only given a list of words and pictures and that's it. No sentences, grammar explanations, no dialogues, no listening comprehensions. In the real world, that's how languages are learnt!
I'd rather pay $10-15 a month for a complete language course with all the features mentioned above that's available in 5 languages, than a half-baked list of words in over a hundred languages...such as what babbel, duolingo, busuu is doing.

Developer Response ,

We are sorry our app didn’t meet your expectation.

Our aim is to help people make friends all over the world by respecting and learning some of each other’s languages. The 140+ languages we offer have all been requested by customers and we are working on requests for more.

We do appreciate that customers enjoy learning in different ways and that there are many, often complimentary, ways of learning. uTalk is different to others but with over 25 years’ experience and over 30 million people who have used our method, we concentrate on what our customers say works best for them.

Go Talk has over 1,500 carefully chosen words and phrases in each language all voiced by native speakers. We believe that being able to understand or say the right word at the right time is often more important than having the right grammar. In fact, many of our customers have been recommended uTalk by teachers as an aid to learning.

We wish you great success with whichever method you choose to use.

This would be helpful

Wish you could click on each separate word to see the meaning

Thank you for your feedback. More than half of our vocabulary is made up of single words for which there is a one word translation in the phrase practice section. But we take your suggestion about phrases. At the moment, we’re focusing on adding new languages to our apps but your request is definitely in our future wish list. Best, Sarah

Great so far

I just downloaded this app today to learn a bit of Macedonian and Georgian... really beautiful app design and I think I will be able to learn well from this app. That being said, and I really do hope the developers see this because this is an important part of learning any language, I think, I would find it very helpful to include a literal word-for-word translation along with the phrase. For example learning Mongolian, you get all these seemingly random words and letters and I would just like to understand what purpose each part of the phrase serves, rather than just memorizing specific phrases. I will continue to use this app of course! I only wish it didn’t cost money because I can’t really afford it but I understand it has to make money somehow. Overall great app and I look forward to seeing more improvements!

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the feedback and for saying our app design is beautiful! We’re glad you like it and are pleased it’s helped you learn Macedonian and Georgian. uTalk focuses on giving learners the speaking and listening skills they need in a new language and always uses native speakers so users learn to speak like the locals. We also give direct translations of all the individual words used and the overall meaning of all the phrases used in a choice of 140 languages. We take your point that you’d like a word by word translation of the phrases as well and this is something we can look into in the future but, at the moment, we’re concentrating our efforts on supporting new languages. The choice of how we best spend our resources is a really tough one to make... Best wishes, Sarah
