Powerful, fast searching. Find anything. OS X Tagging with a real tag cloud.

Version 3.8 is built on and for macOS Sierra, runs back to 10.8.

With Leap, you are in control. See your search results visually.
Leap is indispensable if you are a creative professional, as you can easily pick out files by their looks, file type, and other criteria, all without interfering with your workflow.

Our users use Leap for organizing and visualizing projects full of files, drilling through thousands of files to find 'the one', and for enhancing the organization of large sets of research files. Get Leap and rediscover your computer.

Search with Spotlight - but see the results. Easily drill down to narrow your search by location, file type and more.

With Leap you find things based on your natural memory of that file. “Hhmm it was a big photoshop file of a basketball court” or “Something I tagged important” or “A word document somewhere in my documents folder”. With the Finder though, it's more like “I think it might be called bball.psd and that I put it in the originals folder in images in the Project 29 folder which I think I put in Documents... nope, not there... where did I put it?"

Leap makes Finder obsolete.

It did take a bit of experimenting, but now I rarely use Finder. If you have a lot of files, this is the best way of finding that particular one through the use of tags. I have compared Leap with Yep. I find that Leap is a full version. It is amazing at what is packed into this app. Leap gives you full control of your files. I did a search and found files that I didn't even know were there. Great for cleaning out those hidden files.

Because there was so much info in the downloaded manual, I took it step by step. Start out first with simply tagging your files. You then naturally begin expanding into what the program can really do.

Ok It might be too early to comment because I have installed it 1 hour ago. But I am so happy I found this app. As a person who switched from PC to Mac, there are several things that made me yell after my MacBook, but the one on top of the list was the absurdity of Finder, an underdeveloped tool that I would be ashamed to defend if I worked at Apple. I still feel insulted that I had to go through the pain of having to search for solutions to tasks that I should not even have to wonder about as their OS user. LEAP just fixed that. I am what they call a power user. I have to handle between 500 to 20 000 files PER client, and as such I have other things to think about than ''How can I know where is this file?, what's the path? Why do I have to open a ridiculous popup to tell me the path? How come I can't sort by location? how come I can't do this? How come I can't that? ''etc. Basically Finder would transform what I would do on Windows in half a second into an excruciating 30-minute pain and made me feel like finding a ''genious'' and hurt him badly and explain to him the definition of the word ''productivity''. I tried Path Finder too but the features I was looking for - although listed on the app's description - were buggy and failed 50% of the time. Desperate, I bought LEAP and all of a sudden all my problems are solved, I can hope that tomorrow I will work, do my things and keep my precious time for creating, deploying and managing my files without frustration, for a change! Thanks guys.

fascinating, powerful software

Leap can be hard for people to wrap their heads around, but it’s worth trying. It’s a fascinating, powerful idea. I use Leap routinely to do things that simply are not possible any other way.

It’s also just really, really well done. Very thoughtful software design, and a great combination of Mac-ish elegance with serious power-user goodness: industrial strength AND attractive. No question these developers use their own products.

With the imminent release of a new version with some great new features, especially DropBox integration, it’s clear that Ironic Software is still actively developing Leap, which makes me very happy.
