ShutterCheck displays a hidden information about your Canon EOS camera, so you can easily check whether or not a camera that is listed as new is really brand new or determine the value of a previously used item in order to make deals with more confidence.

Important details about your camera, such as serial number, battery charge level, possible shots and firmware version, are presented as soon as you connect your camera via USB cable.
Check Canon EOS Shutter Count and Get Live View Usage Detalization
ShutterCheck reads and decodes shutter information directly from the internal memory of your camera. For newer Canon EOS models such as the 1D X Mark II, 5D Mark IV and 5DS the app displays an extended shutter information. Together with plain shutter count you’ll get separate values for photos taken through the viewfinder, photos taken via the Live View and a number of Live View sessions. All these values are presented visually on the detalization bar.
ShutterCheck Knows Your Shutter’s Rated Lifespan
What shutter count is considered too high? Turns out it depends on a camera model! Entry-level DSLRs like EOS 100D and 760D are usually rated for something about 100,000 actuations while professional-grade cameras such as EOS-1D X Mark II can go up to 400,000 guaranteed clicks! ShutterCheck displays shutter count along with a shutter’s rated lifespan so you can easily see the percent of its wear.
Customize the User Settings
Depending on a concrete model, Canon EOS cameras support up to three user-customizable fields that are used to populate metadata of your photos. ShutterCheck gives you a convenient way to change owner, author and copyright settings of your camera.

Make sure that Wi-Fi is disabled if you have a Wi-Fi capable camera (such as EOS 6D and 70D). Active Wi-Fi interface completely disables camera’s USB communication abilities.
Make sure that no other application on your Mac is trying to access the camera at the same time. Look for Image Capture, Aperture, Lightroom, EOS Utility and so on. Simultaneous access has unpredictable behaviour — both applications may not work properly.

Ratings and Reviews
everythng but the count
I bought this and opened my camera. I connected it as suggested and got all the info: the serial number, the model and my info. Everything bu the SHUTTER COUNT!
Why did I buy this again?
I am also disappointed in this app store in selling this product!
I am now updating my review as requested by the developer: I received a response to my original review over 8 months after I posted it! Fast service is not his forte! I then folowed the directions to retry the app to get the shutter count from my canon t6i and got the same result- all my the same info and still NO SHUTTER COUNT!
Developer Response ,
Sorry for the poor experience with my app!
What EOS model do you have? The latest EOS Inspector version fully supports shutter count reading from all Canon EOS models, except just the legacy ones. For recent cameras like 1D X Mark II and 5D Mark IV you'll even get an extended shutter info with a detalization on Live View usage. Please give it a try and then consider changing your mind about the rating. Thanks!
Full info about cameras compatibility is available on the tech specs page:
It seems like you've ran an old version of EOS Inspector instead of the new one! You have to download the new release first. Please update the app via the Mac App Store to the latest version (v2.0.0). EOS Inspector v2 is a brand new app that works with any modern Canon EOS camera, including your T6i.
Works great for Canon T2i
Shows serial number, shutter count, available shots, battery level, author and firmware on my Canon EOS Rebel T2i.
Hard to trust with 7D
The app seems to work fine i.e. it does give out a number once the camera is connected. However since teh camera serial number was displayed wrongly, I find it hard to trust the shutter count. I wis this wasnt the case!
EDIT: OK. I checked with another program and confirmed that this app works correct as far as giving the shutter count for 7D. However, I cannot say the same for the serial number (Which is immaterial, since we are only looking for the shutter count).
Developer Response ,
Thank you for the review! The issue with serial numbers was finally addressed in the latest update! Sorry for the time it took me to fix this!
