What is the TD MyAdvantage program?
The TD MyAdvantage program is a usage-based insurance savings program that is 100% voluntary and free! It's designed to reward safe driving behaviour - the safer you drive, the more you could save. The data collected will only be used to calculate your potential savings.
TD MyAdvantage rewards safe drivers based on individual driving behaviours. Using a technology called telematics, it allows actual driving habits to be analyzed and measured.
The TD MyAdvantage app is free to download, however standard wireless carrier message and data rates may apply.
How does it work?
If you’re a TD Insurance auto customer, saving is easy:
1. Contact a TD Insurance Representative at 1-866-223-1030 to enroll in the TD MyAdvantage program and receive a unique Activation Code.
2. Log in with your code and start driving. The app will capture your driving data on each trip, including GPS locations, mileage and driving style elements such as speed, acceleration, cornering and braking.
3. This information will be used to create your personalized driving score.
4. This score is used to calculate discounts that could be applied to your premium when it’s time to renew your policy, and suddenly safe driving makes even more cents.
Benefits of enrollment:
• Get a discount of 10% (5% in Quebec) on your insurance premium just for enrolling in TD MyAdvantage, and potentially save up to 25%** on renewal.
• Encourage all drivers on your policy to adopt safe driving habits by getting them to enroll in the TD MyAdvantage program.
Additional app features:
• Safer driving habits – get helpful driving tips and advice based on your current driving habits, so you can continue to drive safely and possibly earn a discount on your premium when it’s time to renew.
• Earn badges - badges are fun awards you can earn through the app by meeting challenges designed to help you become a safer driver. The better you drive the more badges you can earn!
Important Disclosures:
The TD MyAdvantage app collects the following data for each trip you make:
• GPS data (location information, speed)
• Acceleration, speeding, braking and cornering derived from GPS or accelerometer data
• Time of day
• Confirmation of when the app is being turned on and off
• Mobile device ID
• Mileage
• Battery level and charging status
• Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection information
• Internet connectivity (Cellular or Wi-Fi)
Please note: TD MyAdvantage uses your phone's GPS services. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
Your driving data is used to calculate your driving score. Your data is then securely transmitted to the app to display scores.

Ratings and Reviews
Stupid app
This app doesn't let you drive sensibly. It's supposed to make you learn to slow down and drive safely. By doing that you can get up to 25% savings on insurance. But using this app you lose their points if you drive 1 kilometer over a speed limit. So now try driving slower without getting other drivers angry and making stupid moves risking accidents trying to get past you. That's not safe. Even police won't stop you for under 10k over the limit. There should be a lee way allowing you to go a couple of k over without losing % points
When you approach an intersection and the light goes yellow you apply brakes to stop in time but the app takes off points with comments that you did harsh braking. So it seems it wants you to drive through a red light. That's not safe. Also someone suddenly pulls in front of you so you apply brakes quickly to avoid an accident but that lessens your ability to save on your insurance. Then driving along a curvy road with the speed limit at 60, you have to keep applying brakes so you won't get more points off for bad cornering. Really? Going under 60k?
From what I see it takes lots of points off your score to make sure no one can get the promised 25% saving. And it causes unsafe driving with angry drivers following and then making you go through red lights trying to not get harsh braking.
The way it grades you is much too harsh. What's the point using it when it's impossible to get the 25% discount?
Even driving like a grandmother doesn’t help
Just did a 200km drive. I purposely drove as carefully as possible to meet the 4 categories they rank you on. Holy moly, I got a 58 for driving as carefully (slowly) as possible. I noticeably irritated pretty much everyone on the road (tons of people were riding my tail and giving dirty looks as they passed) and still got a terrible score. Not sure it is worth annoying all the other drivers on the road. You need to blend in with the traffic, not create the traffic and road rage, so this app may not actually make the roads any safer. They need to loosen up the limits to reflect actual acceptable driving practices.
Absurd Calibration
The thresholds that the app has for "hard cornering", "hard braking", and "rapid acceleration" are completely ridiculous. I just completed a 14 kilometre drive in Sarasota, Florida, driving like the retirees around me (a.k.a. extremely slowly). It tagged one of my turns from one fast-moving road onto a highway as "hard cornering" for being at over 15km/h. My 63 year old mother was with me and was baffled at the event being considered "hard cornering". Absolute joke. As other reviewers mention, in order to comply with the app's settings to get a higher discount, a driver actually has to drive in an unsafe manner relative to the actions of other drives around.
