Bad Update

It's much slower. In addition, you can no longer scroll down through the different sections. Instead, you need to scroll past each single article. So if you want to read the obituary it will take you longer to get to the article than to read it. If it ain't broken.....

Update (aug 25, 2017): still dysfunctional. Contrary to what the App store description said, the app still does not remember which article you were reading and sends you back to the cover each time.
Download times are much slower.
You cannot scroll through different sections and instead you need to scroll past each single article, which makes it very hard to reach articles at the end of the magazine.
Even after downloading an issue, you get a "loading" sign before you can read an article. Every time you leave the app, it welcomes you back with an intrusive, clunky ad that most often won't close easily.
All in all, the Economist made a terrible choice "upgrading" (read: massively downgrading) its iOS apps and unless something changes in the next month I will not be renewing my subscription, since reading the magazine on an iphone or iPad has gone from being a treat to being a nightmare. The apps are no longer functional, let alone visually appealing. Not the kind of stuff you pay a lot of money for as a customer.

Doesn't remember where left

If I stopped reading for awhile, the app back to the issues screen. Old app can remember where I left and let me continue to read , but new one doesn't. Need fix

Still not working

The app has completely stopped working, and customer support is unresponsive after the first email acknowledging receipt. The customer support number is not in service. Considering a subscription is $180 a year, I expect much better.
