G1 Driver's Test Genie 2023 4+

Although they did recommend reading the book first, I’m not a reading learner and avoided the book in the first place, but just as a precaution I’d use the book too. But, this app still helped me. The questions are pretty much worded the same (but always read the question over and over in the actual exam) and there were only a couple of questions that weren’t on here, which is why I’d recommend reading the book. Apart from that, this app helped me as an interactive learner. One tip is to keep doing each set over and over until you get 100% on all of them, then move onto the exam simulation. This helps make sure you know every single question cause you never know what you’ll get on the actual G1. Premium pack questions weren’t on my exam, but it’s a different exam for everyone. Better safe than sorry. Loved it!

I didn’t read the Driver’s handbook at first, I did about as many practice test as you can possibly do and learnt mostly from the mistakes (online tests always show you the right answer, so I would take notes) and I would always pass with at least 80% on the rules of the road section, which is the harder section. So I decided to read the book (read the whole book in 2 days in between chores) and although the online tests help you so incredibly much, I would strongly suggest you use them as a tool and not a replacement for the book. Although some of the questions are extremely similar, the wording changes a bit, so if you memorize by the wording instead of the actual content then you’ll probably fail. The whole thing took me 3 days (I started doing the online tests and studying on a Tuesday and took the written test the Thursday of the same week) I thought I was rushing into it but I’ve been under a lot of pressure to get it done so I said screw it, lets get it done with. There was 3 other teenagers taking the test beside me, they all failed (two of them failed twice while I was there) I’m 30y/o and believe it or not, I always had more pressing things to do than to worry about getting my licence. I will bus/bike/walk everywhere so it wasn’t a necessity either. But recently the “mean girls” in my circle where constantly mocking me and trying to make themselves feel better by putting me down for not having a licence. That discouraged me a bit and felt like maybe I wouldn’t even pass the written test...for some reason. But honestly, thanks to this apps and online tests, and reading the book I was able to pass on my first try

Hey Urghee, thank you for such a detailed review! You did everything right: we also recommend that the learners read the handbook at least once (even though we know it's not as fun as G1 Genie 😉). We also *don't* recommend focusing on the exact question-answer pairs as the questions can be worded slightly differently on the real exam, so you were spot on! As a DriveTest employee I get teens coming in unable to pass their exams the first time because of they rely on this app. The questions aren’t word for word and actually some of the questions aren’t even on there so they study the wrong material. It’s a waste of their money to retest and the developer is making it more difficult for the users to pass their exam. Don’t use this app, just buy a book and study; it’s more accurate and less time consuming.

Hello there, thanks for your feedback! The questions can never be word for word because DriveTest doesn't make them public. They are kept secret. That's why we never recommend remembering the question-answer pairs, but rather suggest the learner understands the situation presented in the question. 100% of our questions are based on the Ontario Driver's Handbook which is what the official test is based off as well, so your statement about "wrong material" can't be accurate.

Re: "the developer is making it more difficult for the users to pass their exam":
Please check the app's rating over the years, let it be the judge of how useful the app is. The handbook is surely useful and we recommend that every learner reads it, but it was never written to promote rapid learning - it's just a reference, a collection or rules. It's dry and boring with no way to test your knowledge. DMV Genie is just as accurate, yet ten times more interactive and fun. That's why so many users have found it so valuable.
