About Accordion Tribe

World-renowned as one of the most accomplished accordionists in new music and creative improvisation, N.Y.C.'s Guy Klucevsek formed Accordion Tribe as a vehicle to acquaint audiences with the instrument's remarkable qualities as a serious modern instrument building from deep traditional roots. It was important to the Slovenian-American Klucevsek that his international ensemble feature skillful players who were also composers of accordion repertoire; accordingly, he chose Sweden's Lars Hollmer, Finland's Maria Kalaniemi, Austria's Otto Lechner, and Slovenia's Bratko Bibič to join him in the Accordion Tribe quintet. The group toured extensively in the late '90s and 2000s, and released the live Accordion Tribe (1997) and studio-recorded Sea of Reeds (2003) and Lunghorn Twist (2006) albums on the Intuition label. The remaining Tribe members chose to disband after Hollmer's death in 2008. ~ Dave Lynch
