Amps for Christ

About Amps for Christ

Concurrent with the end of his punk-noise outfit Man Is the Bastard and its avant-garde side project, Bastard Noise, Henry Barnes formed Amps For Christ in the mid-1990s. Like a more aggressive version of the Sun City Girls, Amps For Christ mixes world music influences, including European folk forms and Indian instruments, with hardcore punk and electronic noise processing. Following the 1995 tape-only release, THE PLAINS OF ALLUVIAL, Amps For Christ made their CD debut with 1997's BEGGARS GARDEN. Aside from Barnes, the project has no permanent membership, though electronics expert Enid Snarb is often credited as well.
