Brightblack Morning Light

About Brightblack Morning Light

Originally known as Brightblack, the duo of guitarist Nathan Shineywater and keyboardist Rachael Hughes specialize in a narcotic blend of moody indie rock, psychedelia, and country. Friends and collaborators with alt-country mainstay Will Oldham, whose brother Paul Oldham produced their 2004 debut album ALA.CALI.TUCKY (named for the states it was written and recorded in), Shineywater and Hughes also curate a yearly Northern California festival that brings together the leading lights of the acid folk scene, such as Espers, Joanna Newsom, and Vetiver. Following their debut, the duo expanded their name to Brightblack Morninglight for a self-titled album in 2006.
