About Crime Mob

Known for their eternal 2004 hit “Knuck If You Buck,” the Atlanta rap group Crime Mob were instrumental in elevating Southern hip-hop in the mid-’00s. • Crime Mob formed at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia. The group’s in-house producer, Lil Jay, cooked up beats using a demo version of Fruity Loops that didn’t allow him to save files onto his father’s PC. • The group’s self-titled 2004 debut includes the raucous, platinum-selling single “Knuck If You Buck,” featuring Lil Scrappy. The song has become a staple of nightclubs and Greek life at historically black colleges and universities. • The group’s 2007 sophomore album, Hated on Mostly, went Top 10 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The single “Rock Yo Hips” became the group’s first and only Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. • After a brief hiatus, Crime Mob reunited in 2012 (sans Princess) for a performance at Atlanta's Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash. • In 2016, “Knuck If You Buck” gained new life when the duo Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall sampled it for their viral dance song “Juju on That Beat (TZ Anthem),” which peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100. • Crime Mob collaborated with Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi for “We Can Hit (Round 1)” from 2018’s Creed II: The Album. • Solange samples a conversation between Crime Mob members Diamond and Princess on “Can I Hold the Mic (Interlude),” off her 2019 album When I Get Home.
