About Curumin
A true descendent of the original MBP movement, Brazilian singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Curumin draws from classic funk, jazz, rock, electronica, and DJ culture, in addition to MBP pioneers like Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil. Curumin got an early start, forming his first band at age eight in his native Sao Paulo. He went on to refine his skills as a drummer, keyboardist, and composer in music school before forming the band Zomba. Zomba’s emphasis on funk and samba, which sounded at once retro and futuristic, formed the template for Curumin’s solo recordings, the first of which was ACHADOS E PERDIDOS. American rapper Chief Xcel (of Blackalicious) released the album on his Quannum Projects label.
