In Tall Buildings began as solo project of Chicago multi-instrumentalist Erik Hall. During downtime from afro-beat revivalists Nomo, Hall chipped away at home recordings of textured, wistful folk-pop. Between 2006 and 2008, he fine-tuned the tracks that became In Tall Buildings, released in 2010. Hall assembled a live band for several tours and performances at South by Southwest, Tomorrow Never Knows, and the Toronto International Film Festival. Over the next three years, Hall worked on recording the second In Tall Buildings album, playing occasional festivals and shows in and around Chicago. A true solo effort, Driver was released in 2015. Hall went on to produce records for other artists before finishing another home-assembled collection, Akinetic, released in 2018. ~ Fred Thomas
