About Marco Antonio Solís

A key figure in modern Mexican pop, Marco Antonio Solís is a singer, songwriter, and producer who became a solo star in the 1990s. ∙ In 1975, he and cousin Joel Solís formed Los Bukis, which became famous in Latin America and had a lasting influence on Mexican norteño and ranchera music. ∙ Solís’ solo debut, 1996’s En Pleno Vuelo, rose to No. 3 on both Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts, and produced three No. 1 Latin hits. ∙ Originally written for singer Marisela, his 1999 hit “Si No Te Hubieras Ido” was covered by the rock band Maná, whose 2008 version topped Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. ∙ Along with having more than 30 hit singles and multiple chart-topping albums, Solís has won five Latin Grammy Awards and two Lo Nuestro Awards. ∙ He was featured on Enrique Iglesias’ 2013 chart-topper “El Perdedor,” which became the opening theme song for the Mexican telenovela Lo Que la Vida Me Robó. ∙ The singer performed on many tunes in the 2017 animated film Coco, and he voiced main character Ernesto de la Cruz in the Spanish-language version.
