About Medeski, Martin & Wood
An experimental trio from New York City, Medeski, Martin, & Wood straddle the gap between avant-garde improvisation and groove-based jazz. Keyboardist John Medeski, drummer/percussionist Billy Martin, and bassist Chris Wood released their first album in 1992, and several years of cross-country tours and groove-oriented albums made them a popular act in the jam band scene. DJ Logic joined the band on the road as an unofficial fourth member, and Medeski, Martin, & Wood continued to create innovative, fashionable jazz with such albums as Combustication, The Dropper, Out Louder, and the live acoustic Tonic. ~ Jesse Jarnow
