About Wrens

Not to be confused with the R&B vocal group who scored several hits in the 1950s, the Wrens are an energetic, guitar-based New Jersey indie pop act that formed in the late 1980s. The group, consisting of guitarists Charles Bissell and Greg Whelan, bassist Kevin Whelan, and drummer Jerry McDonald, debuted with 1994's SILVER, followed by 1996's SECAUCUS. After being dropped in the midst of a label shakeup, the group spent several years in relative quiet, releasing only occasional singles before returning with THE MEADOWLANDS in 2003.
