About Yuki Numata Resnick

Known primarily in new-music circles, versatile violinist Yuki Numata Resnick also plays in classical, pop, and indie-rock contexts, and is the co-founder of Buffalo String Works, a not-for-profit providing music lessons to refugee and immigrant youth. Born in Vancouver in the early ’80s, Resnick studied at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Michigan. She was an early member of contemporary-classical chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound and played on their 2002 debut recording, Steve Reich: Tehillim & The Desert Music. As a member of the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), she features on Max Richter’s dreamy eight-hour neuroscience experiment Sleep (2015), with numerous group recordings in between. On her 2016 debut solo album, For Ko., Resnick punctuates a rigorous reading of Bach's Partita No. 1 in B minor for solo violin with contrasting yet resonant newly commissioned works. And as a first-call session veteran, she recorded tracks in her home attic for Taylor Swift's 2020 albums, folklore and evermore.
