He's a country superstar; she's a small town waitress. When the real world slams into their stolen dream, whose heart will be the one to break? From NYT and USA Today best-selling Texas romance author Jean Brashear, a new and emotional Sweetgrass Springs story... Jeanette Carson has been a fixture as a waitress in Ruby's Cafe ever since high school. Walker Roundtree is country music's brightest star, known by all for his laid-back charm and irresistible appeal to the opposite sex. Ever since his first visit to Sweetgrass Springs, there have been verbal fireworks between him and Jeanette as she proved to be the only woman immune to his charm. Now their paths have crossed in the outside world, and they're seeing each other in a new light. Fireworks of a very different sort are sparking the sky - but then Walker's world is upended by a tragedy, and the only one who steps in to help him is the very woman who swore never to put herself at his mercy. For a few days, they have only each other to rely upon, and these two lonely hearts find refuge in each other. But all too soon, the real world demands its due, and their refuge is no longer private. The days of dreaming, the nights of yearning and hope face the harsh light of reality, and the only question is: Whose heart will be the one to break? Includes an original love song, "Never Forever", written and performed especially for this story by Eric Dove.
The Song Makes it Worth the Audio Price
This book was well written, the narrator was fantastic... And then there is the song. sigh
This is why audio books are sometimes better than the e-book. It really added to my enjoyment of the story!
Then of course there is the love story, a child, a dog... Wonderful!
I found this book captivating from beginning to end. I fell in love with Walker right from the start. Jeanette has been an intriguing character in many of the Sweetgrass stories and it is wonderful to finally read her story and have her get her HEA. She has been a bit of a curmudgeon in a lot of the stories but she drew me in and had me wishing that she would find love and a rewarding & enjoyable way to use her talents. As usual Jean Brashear weaves a wonderful story and keeps us hooked to her series! Looking forward to the next book.
Eric Dove outdoes himself narrating this book. One of the highlights of the book was when Walker sang the song he wrote for Jeanette. I cried listening to it and had to pause the book until I got myself together so I wouldn't miss what happened next. Eric’s voice is rich and melodic, and so pleasant to listen to. He is a talent unto himself and I will definitely be searching out his music. What an amazing combination these two make…Jean Brashear and Eric Dove…what else could you ask for in an audiobook…simply perfect!
