Brandon Baker, a young high school graduate, is thrust into a world of dead-end jobs. Drinking life away with his friends, he awaits his shot at the only life to live in the eyes of an Albertan— oil and gas. Destiny wakes him from his seemingly eternal hangover, whisking him away from comfort to the unfamiliar streets of the big city and his shot at the big show, the oil rigs. Newfound love and experimentation challenge his inbred small town morals. Brandon finds life in the fast lane to be truly blinding. Work consumes him, love turns to lost, and greed leads to death. Stripped of himself, Brandon finds truth on the winds of a foreign land, where he questions what should have been and searches for his true path.
Great Book, keeps you wanting to read more, very well written. This Alberta Man writes in a manner that captivates the reader, and puts life into perspective. I have passed this book onto friends of all ages from 20 - 80 and all have enjoyed it, couldn't put it down and we all want a sequel as we want to know about the next chapter of Brandon's life!
A great book set in Alberta. Every Albertan can relate to this book in one way or another. The book takes you on an incredible journey into the depths of oil industry and forces you to think critically about your own life and the industry overall. I wish Marc would write another book really soon!!!!
Great read. Interesting twist seeing thru the male perspective. Kept me wanting more.
