This book can be downloaded and read in iBooks on your Mac or iOS device.

Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman, has gone 84 days without catching a fish. Confident that his bad luck is at an end, he sets off alone, far into the Gulf Stream, to fish. Santiago’s faith is rewarded, and he quickly hooks a marlin…a marlin so big he is unable to pull it in and finds himself being pulled by the giant fish for two days and two nights.

Old Man and the Sea

Nicely produced ebook. The typesetting is better than most out there. Great value for $.99.

The Old Man and the Sea

There's a haunting quality to this book -- an essence of lonliness, an old man, far too old, perhaps even too feeble, to out on the water on his own. Of course, he's poor. Of course, he's got very few options in his life other than to be out on the water. So when he catches the fish of a lifetime, you can't help but root for him, but want to pull him into the boat on behalf of the old man, desperately wishing for it all to turn out okay. Hemingway meditates on many themes in this deceptively simple novel: man vs. nature, man vs. man, man vs. society. It's an achingly beautiful book, perhaps Hemingway's best.
