About the Movie
For the past two decades, acclaimed documentary filmmaker Doug Block has helped support himself by shooting weddings. Hired for his intimate documentary style, he found himself emotionally bonding with his wedding couples on their big day, only to send off their videos and never see them again. Many years and 112 weddings later, having long wondered what’s become of their marriages, Block begins to track down some of his favorite couples. Juxtaposing rapturous wedding day flashbacks with remarkably candid present-day interviews, 112 Weddings explores timeless themes of love and marital commitment.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A skilled documentarian, Block moves briskly from easily relatable domestic scenarios to more tragic ones, and changes things up by focusing on two young marrieds-to-be.
Rotten: The film's sometimes downbeat tone can't help but evoke memories of Philip Larkin's The Whitsun Weddings.
Fresh: 112 Weddings is a bittersweet portrait of the state of modern marriage, as interpreted by a New York wedding photographer.
Fresh: Disappointingly, the obvious question of Block's own marital/domestic situation is avoided. It's an entertaining study, though.
Funny, Irresistible, and Romantic
Doug Block's doc lacks a glamorous presentation, but '112 Weddings' is a marvellous movie with lots of ambition.
If this wedding videographer ever decides to part ways from garter belts and reception parties and head into making other documentaries, he has the conceivable talent to do so.
