About the Movie
Cultures collide when an American businessman (Tom Hanks) is sent to Saudi Arabia to close what he hopes will be the deal of a lifetime. Baffled by local customs and stymied by an opaque bureaucracy, he eventually finds his footing with the help of a wise-cracking taxi driver (Alexander Black) and a beautiful Saudi doctor (Sarita Choudhury).

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: It takes an actor with the finesse of Tom Hanks to turn a story of confusion, perplexity, frustration and panic into an agreeably uncomfortable comedy.
Fresh: If it sounds like Hologram is basically about a middle-aged white guy getting his groove back in the Middle East, well, yes, it is that. But if you squint hard enough, it's also a little bit more.
Rotten: Not even the mighty Tom Hanks can save this scattershot adaptation of Dave Eggers' lost-soul novel
Fresh: Quiet existential irony, albeit diluted and distorted, still reverberates in this stranger-in-a-strange-land story.
Slow & Disappointing
Even Tom Hanks could not add life to the monotonous pace of this US propaganda film that seems to paint the Saudis as duplicitous fakes who really want to live like fun-loving Americans behind their austere religious facade. "See they're just like us" seems to be one of the messages. This movie must drive real Saudis crazy if they can bear to watch it. Not a comedy. More of a tragedy where the American entrepreneurial spirit is undercut by the cheaper Chinese and the supposedly loving American father abandons his darling daughter... again. Essentially a soppy Harlequin Romance. This movie does not deserve the high ratings. Tom Hanks might but not here.
A Hologram For A King
This is the worst movie I have seen in years. I rented it because a movie starring Tom Hanks is usually woth watching - I won't make that mistake again!
I was excited because it was Tom Hanks... I was extremely disappointed. The story was weak and not entertaining at all.
