Plot Summary

Edward Carnby is a private investigator specializing in unexplainable supernaturel phenomena. Now, the greatest mystery of his past is about to become the most dangerous case he has ever faced. With the help of his ex-girlfriend, archaeologist Aline Cedrac, and his bitter rival, government agent Richard Burke, Edward is about to learn that just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean it cannot kill you!

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: When the giant, intelligent bees of the future sift through the ashes of our civilization, they will find Alone in the Dark, and they will understand. It's so bad it's postmodern. – Scott Brown, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: The garish editing and stilted, exposition-only dialogue induce the frisson of an America's Most Wanted re-enactment that pays unexpected, sidesplitting returns. – Benjamin Strong, Village Voice, Aug 19, 2005

Rotten: A film so mind-blowingly horrible that it teeters on the edge of cinematic immortality. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Alone in the Dark presents splatter fans with garden-variety gore, and gives action-horror fans loud, unscary special effects rather than genuine suspense or bang. – Janice Page, Boston Globe, Nov 24, 2011

this could be the worst thing i ever seen

this movie is just awful.

Worse than Battlefield Earth. Yeah, it's that bad.

I was saddened to learn that this was filmed in Vancouver, and the Canadian government helped fund this dreck. Uwe Boll's movie-making days must end.

A Bit of Everything

True Hollywood! Jurisdictional bickering, Kung Foo fighting, Blowups, Aliens. I found the not being able to see a lot because of the darkness a little annoying, but DUH ! the "title". It wasn't like a surprise. A lot more Tara and I'd have given it 5 Stars. A bargain for $0.99 The hour and a half flew bye!
