About the Movie

"I was born under unusual circumstances." And so begins "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans, from the end of World War I in 1918 into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man's life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, "Benjamin Button," is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button leaves you colder than it should, and it shouldn't leave you cold at all. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: There's leisure to the storytelling, a splendor that captures the movie's celebratory but also melancholy ideas about our time on this mortal coil. – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: A man who ages backwards will never be able to bond to another person in a truly meaningful way. We can barely be expected to return affection that isn't there. – Simon Miraudo, Quickflix, Nov 2, 2014

Fresh: Fincher treats Roth's script with a visual bravura and narrative gusto far beyond the usual capacities of the Hollywood mainstream. Benjamin Button is a poetic, virtuoso feat, as eloquent and rapturous as CGI-era cinema gets. – Jonathan Romney, Independent (UK), Jun 24, 2010

Rental wait time!

K I totally get the marketing concept of selling the movie before you rent it but one month is a little ridiculous. I can pop into my video store and get this movie tonight and now iTunes will lose the money I would have spent here. I think you should concider shortening your wait times for renting a movie instead of losing the $ to blockbuster.

Simply, this is one of the greatest movies of all time. The flow of the story, the brilliant acting, the suberb directing, and the great nostalgic sadness that washes over the viewer once the film is done make this a movie worth watching many times. Viewers be warned, The Curius Case of Benjamin Button is one of the saddest movies ever made. Still, there is a sense of satisfaction at seeing the conlusion of the lives of the characters the veiwer came to care for in the film.

Don't hate me..

I'm sorry, but this movie just didn't cut it for me. Call me crazy.. but I was bored out of my mind. It was very long and tedious. I must have checked my watch ten times in the first hour. My friend actually fell asleep on me. Good acting and good direction.. but I feel like they could've cut it down somehow. I was getting irritable sitting in the theater that long. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime. But not in the near future. Please rent it first. I don't think this movie is for everyone. Hopefully you guys enjoy it more than I did!
