About the Movie

Small-town boy Shawn MacArthur (Channing Tatum, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Public Enemies) knows firsthand that every day in New York City is a struggle to survive. So when scam artist Harvey Boarden (Terrence Howard, Iron Man, Hustle and Flow) gives him a chance to be something more in the brutal underground world of bare-knuckle street-fighting, Shawn decides that he has something worth fighting for and puts everything on the line to win. Every knockout brings him closer to the life he’s always wanted, but also traps him in a dangerous web he can’t escape.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The fights may not be very convincing, but the story's underdog structure is satisfying in a happy-cliche sort of way. Fighting is Rocky without the bombast, Fight Club without the daft metaphysical pretensions. – David Denby, New Yorker, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: The screenplay about a hunky street vendor turned underground fighter (Channing Tatum of Stop-Loss) is sloppy and false. – Andrea Gronvall, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: There's a better movie inside it struggling to get out. – Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: This is a story we've seen dozens of times before. – Ben Lyons, At the Movies, Jun 24, 2010

Good "couple movie"

I was expecting a simple fight movie with all the cliche, but I was suprised by the acting. It made me think about Rocky . I saw it with my wife and she was pleased with it. I think it is a good "couple movie". Men get the fighting and women get the deep emotional complexity of life and love, LOL.

It wasn't that bad, could have had a little mire back story. Neverback down was better
