About the Movie

Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann star in this seriously funny film from writer-director Judd Apatow, (The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up). When famous comedian George Simmons (Sandler) is given a second chance at a new beginning, he and his assistant, a struggling comedian, Ira (Rogen), return to the places and people that matter most…including the stand-up spots that gave him his start and the girl that got away (Mann). Co-starring Jonah Hill, Eric Bana and Jason Schwartzman, it’s the film critics cheer is "uproariously funny!" (Sonny Bunch, The Washington Times).

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Funny People is funny, moving, dramatic, and alternately hilarious. It's a bit like a stand-up dramedy. – Laremy Legel, Film.com, Nov 7, 2011

Fresh: Funny People may be deeply flawed, but at least it has an accurate title. – Simon Miraudo, Quickflix, Oct 21, 2014

Rotten: It's interesting stuff, I feel myself wanting to like it more than I did. Judd Apatow has a lot to say, he just hasn't mastered the tools to say it well. – Jason Di Rosso, MovieTime, ABC Radio National, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: The film is also an admiring portrait of the artist as Californian solipsist -- unburdened by personal ties or even the need to seem intelligent, free to follow his own random, petty, moment-by-moment train of thought. – Jake Wilson, The Age (Australia), Jun 24, 2010

Complete Crap

You would think that it would be funny. I didn't even laugh once. Honestly, rent something else or don't rent anything. I wouldn't even watch it again if I was paid to.
