About the Movie

Welcome to Beaver’s Ridge, a wholesome, tightknit community known for its family values. But things get spicy when sex columnist Cassie (Jewel Staite) returns for mom’s funeral. She had labeled the town prudish in her big-city writing gig, but upon her return, a group of eclectic town folk are inspired to try to plan an orgy and beg Cassie to serve as their mentor. Each person’s ulterior motive is revealed, and the orgy takes on a surprise new meaning. Lauren Holly, Ennis Esmer, Jonas Chernick, Kristian Bruun, Mark O’Brien and Katharine Isabelle co-star. From the director and writer of SEX AFTER KIDS, Jeremy Lalonde explores sexuality in comedic ways while also exploring real-life lessons in self-love and acceptance.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Despite its provocative title, How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town isn't particularly sexy. More troubling, it's not very funny either. – Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times, May 12, 2016

Rotten: All of this is sporadically funny and cheerfully tasteless in its low-budget way, but it's also unevenly acted, a bit overlong and never quite as daring as it seems to want to be. – Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times, May 12, 2016

Rotten: The ingenuity of writer-director Jeremy LaLonde's film ends with its title. – Diego Semerene, Slant Magazine, May 9, 2016

Surprising, lovely moments.

What a delight to watch this film. Three dimensional characters not just good guys and bad guys. Made me laugh, surprised me, and great ending. Some really nice moments on film too. Sometimes you don't need dialogue, just let the actors show what their feeling and this director let that happen on screen. So rare and it was so appreciated.
