Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The pieces would seem to be in place, but ... "Money Monster" is a stodgy, moribund plodder loaded with stock characters that wouldn't have felt edgy in 1983 and has about the same contemporary urgency as your average late-night rerun of "CSI: NY."
Rotten: The frenzied drama has no clear point of view besides its air of celebrity condescension.
Fresh: After a very strong start that pokes some nice satirical jabs at the media and the workings of the finance world, the film does default into a pretty standard, though entertaining affair.
Fresh: It wants to be more than just a thriller; it aims to attack rapacious financial institutions, witless TV programs and the short attention span of the general public, and for the most part it manages to achieve all of that.
The movie was awful. a lot of talking. Over use terms in binary code. No entertainment here folds. Poor director, poor acting. I wish I didn’t have to even give it one point, not worth the money to buy or to rent.
This move draws you in. It needs more credit.
It’s unfortunate that actors of such caliber were working with such a horrific script.
