About the Movie

Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) - with newest members Timmons (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard - are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time — five tons of weapons-grade plutonium, far more than enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Pleasantly dumb fun if you watch it with the right mind-set. – Neil Genzlinger, New York Times, Aug 16, 2012

Fresh: The movie is excellent crap, fine junk, an exercise in campy movie nostalgia, and a demonstration of American supremacy in the field of nutty cosmetic enhancements for aging movie stars. – Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly, Aug 16, 2012

Fresh: The Expendables 2 is corny, barbaric and sometimes visually murky. But humor and self-deprecating macho charm make this male pattern badness crowd-pleasing fun. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Aug 16, 2012

Rotten: "The Expendables 2" is lazily satisfied with repeating the first movie's formula, shortcomings and grisly strengths alike, just as the first movie was content to slavishly, ploddingly cover the hits of the '80s. – Tom Russo, Boston Globe, Aug 23, 2012

Classic old school action

Saw it in theater, will rent it, might buy it. It's just fun to watch and a great way to remember some Hollywood legends.

It's just what you would expect.

Expendables 2 offers its viewers what they want; mindless violence with tons of corny references coupled with action stars gallor. If you go into this movie expecting an exciting story, in-deph character development and interesting dialog; you will be very VERY dissapointed. If you go in realizing that it will be an over-the-top, gore-infused testosterone party, you have the right movie. The cast is all to familiar so it is not surprising how rediculous the movie is. This movie was a riot to watch and I will be picking up a copy when it is released as well. I highly recommend at least renting it. Any action movie buff could either get his fill or a good laugh.

Boooo

So disappointed, it was like they jam packed the movie with so many awesome actors that they didn't have enough money left over for a good script!
